Synopsis

This book unveils how teacher education supports student teachers to build and develop their reflective teaching in two different countries, Indonesia and United Kingdom, as the representative of TEs in developing TEs and well-developed TEs. Reflective teaching as one of the strategies to develop teachers' teaching quality, allows teachers to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their teaching, leading to their teaching evaluation and enhancement. If Teacher Educations (TEs) offer reflective teaching strategies for student teachers, they potentially become reflective practitioners who could positively impact the quality of their future teaching. This book presents different supports provided by teacher education in these two contexts. Teacher education in Indonesia tends to promote reflection skills for students through discrete platforms, while teacher education in the UK context has integrated reflection into the curriculum and courses. Thus, reading this book can give insight to a proposed model of teacher education supports for developing student teachers’ reflection skills and triggering the improvement of teaching quality, beyond their preparation in TEs.
